Tree Selection / Placement

When it comes to planting or replacing trees you must answer two basic questions:
  1. What kind of a tree should I plant?
  2. Where should I plant the tree?

This is where the knowledge of a certified arborist can be indispensable. They will be able to remove the guess work.  They know which species of trees will do well on your property and what site location will be best.

It's a good idea to think about the following when planting a tree:
  • What is your reason for planting a tree?
  • What do you want the tree to provide?  (fruit, shade, windbreak, beauty)
  • Is the available site big enough to support the growth of a tree?
  • Are there any above ground or below ground utility wires or gas lines?
  • Is there enough space between driveways, sidewalks or patios?
  • What is the soil condition and will the site support mature tree growth?
  • Have you thought about water, fertilized and pruning after planting?
  • Who will provided the necessary maintenance to nurture the tree?

Planting the right tree in the right place will be a lot easier if you answer the questions above first.
